It is with great pride that the St. Patrick’s Committee of West Springfield presents this year’s Jinx Powers Award to Thomas J. McNamara Jr.

 

TJ has been actively involved with the committee since 2011, but his connection to the organization began long before that. Growing up, he was often around the committee through the involvement of his grandparents, Thomas P. McNamara and Martha McNamara, both of whom played an important role in the early years of the committee. Notably, his grandmother, Martha McNamara, was the first-ever recipient of the Jinx Powers Award, making this honor especially meaningful.

 

Over the years, TJ has proven himself to be a dedicated and reliable member of the committee. He currently serves as Vice President, a role in which he consistently leads by example. One of his most significant contributions is his commitment to building the parade float for the Colleen’s each year — a labor-intensive process that spans several months and requires countless hours of behind-the-scenes work. In addition to this major responsibility, Tom is always willing to step in and assist wherever he is needed, embodying the true spirit of volunteerism that this award represents.

 

TJ’s dedication to the St. Patrick’s Committee is also shared by his family. His wife, Leah McNamara, is a committee member; his son, Thomas J. McNamara, is also a member; and his daughter, Adalynn McNamara, proudly participates as a junior member. Their involvement reflects a continued commitment to preserving the traditions and success of the Holyoke St. Patrick’s Parade for future generations.
